THE POWER OF FOUR: WHY SMALL GROUP PERSONAL TRAINING CAN WORK FOR YOU!

Size does Matter!

Most fitness gyms and, specifically, group & studio classes—like spin classes—tend to be filled with eight people or more. Yes, they’re a fun way to stay reasonably fit if you love the big crowd feel or prefer to stay mildly anonymous — but what if you actually want to make real progress, learn better technique, and get proper attention?

Can we truly call those ‘Personal Training’ sessions? In my view, true personal training means tailored attention, progress, and care—something large classes just can’t provide.

Years ago, one-to-one coaching was the gold standard—and it still is if you want absolute privacy, highly tailored focus, specific accountability, regular measurements, and a trainer who really understands you.

But there’s a trade-off point. Where else can you get that deep personal attention and still feel part of a tribe?

This is where I—and many other coaches who care about serious progress—recognise that four is enough.

Training in a group of four offers something refreshingly different: focus, real progress, and an authentic personal touch. But what does that actually mean—and why does it work so well

Personalised, precise and safe

Small group training isn’t just exercising next to other people. With only four per session, I can tailor exercises specifically to you—even if you’re completely new to strength training or coming back after injury.

Small groups let you progress at your own pace without feeling rushed or held back by others

Old shoulder niggle? Neck tension from long hours at a desk? Balancing training through menopause? Runner’s knee issues? I’ll adapt, correct and support you.

You get the benefit of an expert eye on your technique—every single session.

Who actually notices your valgus knee? Your squat depth or deactivated glute medius? Your kyphotic posture or flat back? Who realises you sometimes need to step back in order to move forwards? Who’s likely to adapt your cardiovascular goals when your body needs more time? Who will understand your concerns as you get older?

Because I can closely observe your movement, you’ll build strength safely and correctly—reducing injury risk and helping you progress faster. With groups of one to four, you get the perfect balance of attention and independence; space to learn, individual correction, and shared motivation—without getting lost in the crowd.

Better value—without compromise

With sessions starting from £25 per hour, you get much of the quality and personal attention of true one-to-one training—without the higher cost.

In the current cost of living crisis, it’s a genuinely sustainable way to keep your health and fitness a priority, build real longevity, and still achieve so much more than generic classes and additional membership fees ever could.

Learn serious skills that last

Forget generic circuits and endless bootcamp burpees. There’s space for that elsewhere if that’s what floats your boat—but here, it’s different.

You’ll build practical, transferable strength through free-weights training, master TRX suspension techniques, develop serious cardiovascular stamina on the Concept2 rower (where you can actually measure your progress), and gain balanced strength and endurance with kettlebells.

You’ll learn how to lift heavier, train smarter, and feel genuinely confident doing it—skills that stay with you for life, not just for the class.

Skills and habits that protect your joints, strengthen your core, and keep your future self healthier and stronger.

Less crowd. More connection.

Fewer people means fewer distractions, less time wasted—and no hiding at the back. Instead, you get a small, private studio space that feels welcoming and far less intimidating than a busy gym floor.

If you’re socially anxious or nervous about your own abilities, this environment helps your confidence grow week by week. Plus, the smaller group means a safer, more private space to work on personal goals or sensitive issues without feeling self-conscious.

There’s no pressure to ‘perform’—just steady progress, shared laughs, and the occasional groan when it really burns! And because most of my clients are 40–60+, you’ll feel part of something relatable. We build connection as well as strength. It becomes more than training; it becomes your space to belong, recharge and feel genuinely understood.

Accountability and real progress

In a group of four, you can’t just fade into the background. The shared commitment of the group—plus coaching that flexes to your mood, energy and how you feel on the day—helps you keep showing up, stay consistent and make real, visible progress.

I’m not here to judge; I’m here to help you feel capable, motivated, and proud of what you achieve—session by session.

More than just a class: a community

Whether it’s the Dawn Warriors (06:15 am), the Mid-Morning Crew (09:30 am) or the After Work Tribe, you’ll become part of a training family that drives you forward—and celebrates your wins.

You can also choose the level of progress that suits your goals. New to fitness or strength training? No problem. Ready to chase bigger athletic goals? There’s a group and time slot that fits you.

More than just a studio – a purpose built training space

Not exactly a boutique (too soft a word!) — this is a dedicated, welcoming space for both men and women. Train in a focused, private environment with the most effective tools you need to make progress: free weights, TRX suspension trainers, Concept2 rowers, resistance tools, stability kit and space to accomplish great things.

No queues for machines, no distractions — just an environment designed for serious, sustainable results.

No membership, sign on fees, or long contracts

Yes, that’s right — we get straight to what truly matters. Before you even pick up your first weight, we’ll lay the groundwork together:

  1. A free goal setting chat — meet with me in the heart of Dorking so we can explore what you really want to achieve.

  2. Follow up assessment — key baseline measurements, biomechanics and posture checks (no sweat required!) so I can shape a plan around you.

It’s personal training at its simplest and most authentic — no apps, no gadgets to get lost in; just real human connection, expertise and support focused entirely on your progress.

Beyond the Studio

Want to run your first 5km? No problem. Looking to push further, or facing bigger challenges — even the psychological ones? Struggling to lose weight, stay motivated or shift long standing habits?

Tap into my experience as a nutrition, weight loss and lifestyle coach. We’ll look beyond reps and routines: exploring the deeper challenges we all face, identity shifts, laying down sustainable habits, building the right mindset and understanding what really drives change.

Because the more you’re armed with self awareness and the right tools, the greater the progress you’ll make. Together, we’ll build habits and mindset shifts that last a lifetime, not just quick fixes, setting you up for sustainable success.

Bottom line?

Small group personal training combines expert coaching (over 15 years’ experience), tailored programming, accountability, community and real value. It’s personal. It’s focused. And it works.

‘Don’t get lost in the crowd. Train where you’re seen, supported — and get stronger every week.’

Ready to get going? Come and meet me this August 2025 and beyond. My Dawn Warriors group has already begun, and from September 2025, the studio officially opens along with an expanded timetable offering more session times to suit you.

Or perhaps you already have your own group of four ready to start?
